We got to have our first ultrasound this week. I had a little bit of a hard time not peeing myself after drinking a ton of water in preparation, but I managed. Once the tech turned on the screen so we could see our little peanut, I was totally in awe and mesmerized. I could have cared less if I had to pee. Maybe I am just biased, but Tal and I have one cute little baby in my belly. Little peanut was so cute wiggling around in there. He/she kept putting his/her hand up by his/her nose. It was adorable! We got a great picture too.
After the ultrasound Tal and I went to the Coldplay (my favorite band) concert in Portland. He got me tickets for Valentine's Day. It was so awesome! The best concert I have ever been to. I think Baby Peanut really enjoyed it too. We saved our tickets to put in the baby's scrapbook. It was his/her first concert. The next day was a little rough after lack of sleep, I slept 12 hours the following night!
I am now officially thirteen weeks and headed in to my second trimester. I am feeling a ton better! The only time I feel nauseous now is when I need to eat. I actually have a pretty cute little bump going on and I find myself rubbing my tummy all the time. It is just so much fun! It is so much fun thinking I am already in my second trimester. A little less stressed now about things and just really enjoying being pregnant and sharing this experience with Tal.
Tal asked me the other day if he needed to start reading to the baby yet. He is so sweet. I told him soon. He has been doing awesome taking care of me and making sure I feel okay. I am really loving it.

The Cat's Out of the Bag...Finally!
We officially got to spill the beans this week, week 12! It started this past weekend by calling my grandma (my mom's mom). She was very excited to be a great-grandma. I even got to tell my great-grandpa he will be a great-great-grandpa again.
Next came the staff at school. We had a staff meeting Tuesday morning and at the beginning of the meeting our principal handed out a box of donuts I had brought. We made sure to give one box to Meryl, one of my fellow teachers, because she has been dying for me to have a baby. She opened the box and this is what she saw...

She immediately screamed, "I knew it!" Everyone was so excited. I got lots of hugs and then the water works started. I think it was all of the anticipation leading up to the big reveal. I have been waiting so long to tell all of them. OR, it could just be pregnancy hormones. I couldn't keep myself from balling. If you know me, I never cry. So this was new.
I got to share the news with family, friends, and my cheerleaders through e-mail today. Complete with a link to this blog and a pic of me. So much fun hearing their words of congrats and encouragement.
I revealed the news to my class of third graders today. I started by reading them a short Halloween book. Then explained to them that I was not crazy and yes I knew that it was not Halloween time but, something really special was going to happen around Halloween. I had them guess just to see what they would come up with and they guessed things like, "we're going to the pumpkin patch" or "we're going to the fair." Then I thought I would give them a hint. I had brought a little Halloween onesie to school a friend got me. I told them to close their eyes and then I showed it to them. Then one of my girls raised her hand and said "you're going to have a baby!" They were all really bubbly and talkative after that. It was hard to get them going to lunch but we managed. A couple of them told me they thought I was pregnant yesterday when I walked them to music because my tummy looked big (or that I had gained a bunch of weight from eating a lot (their words). They didn't want to say anything and be impolite or hurt my feelings. I just laughed. Kids are so funny. News quickly spread around our very small elementary school and soon I heard "way to go" and "good job" and "congratulations" from kids from other classes. It was so funny. They made my day. The other teachers in the building had a fun time reavealing the news to their classes too.
When I got home from school today I called my grandma and grandpa in Forks (my dad's parents). My dad was going to be there today so he could see their reaction. I told my grandpa first and he was very happy for us. Then Grandma got on and knew what was going on. She sent her love and hugs our way.
I am having so much fun spreading the news. I even put it on Facebook so now the whole world knows. It feels so good to share our wonderful news with everyone and feel the love and support.

Weeks 10 and 11
We have definitely had a busy past two weeks. Being back to school after spring break has really wiped me out. I am exhausted when I get home. Bedtime has rolled around by 8:00 for me every night.
We heard the baby's heartbeat at our appointment last week. It was so quiet that the doppler could barely pick it up, but we heard it! I was so excited to hear it. Our doc said the heartbeat was at about 170 bpm (totally normal). Everything else looked great at my appoinment too. I have hypothyroidism so they monitor that really closely and my blood work has looked great so far. That is such a relief because it can really cause problems for baby.
A week ago we told my husband's brothers and our nieces. We met them for dinner the Friday before Easter. I made the two girls an Easter bag and on the front I wrote "Happy Easter, Love, Your New Cousin." Our older niece, who is a sixth grader, got it right away and looked right at me and said "you're going to have a baby!" Tal's brothers and our younger niece, who is a third grader, took a little longer for it to sink in. Everyone was ecstatic though. Of course we spent sometime brainstorming names with them and there were some pretty interesting ones coming up. We had fun!
This past week we had two friends down for dinner. It was really fun to share the news with them. Our old roommate, Jake, and Tal's childhood friend, Ryan, were very excited for us. It was fun to start sharing the news with people. Ryan asked if he could be the godfather with my sister, who he adores. I didn't think that would work considering my sister is married to someone else. I also got to tell my boss this week. She was beyond thrilled. I got 5 hugs in our short meeting!
I am going to share our news with my co-workers this week. I plan to bring some donuts to our staff meeting on Tuesday morning and surprise them with a note in the box that says "Look who has a bun in the oven!" with my picture next to it. They are just going to die. I can't wait.
We are having our first ultrasound next week to have a nuchal translucency test done. They will be doing some early genetic testing. It is not invasive at all so we thought we should do it. I was more excited about the ultrasound just so we can see baby!
As you can see, we have been super busy. I am so close to the end of the first trimester. I am really looking forward to that and seeing this nausea hit the road. Most of all I am looking forward to sharing the news with the world this week.

9 Weeks!
I hit the 9 week tomorrow. Baby is the size of an olive now! How cute! One week away from our next doctor appointment. I am really looking forward to the appointment and the possibility of hearing little Wold's heartbeat. I have been really nauseous the last couple of weeks. So happy that this week is spring break so I don't have to worry about feeling sick. I have been enjoying lying around in sweats and comfy pj's, taking naps when I want, and being lazy. I keep telling myself that I need to enjoy this quiet time, it won't last much longer.
Really trying to eat healthy, but it is hard when sometimes nothing sounds good. I am really loving fruit and carbs. Meat just sounds horrible.
I went to a prenatal yoga class yesterday and really enjoyed it. I also picked up a prenatal yoga DVD and I cannot wait to use that too. Between walking and yoga I think it will really help me stay in shape throughout this journey.
I picked up a couple of maternity tops last weekend with my mom at Target. Just a couple of longer tanks and tees, a dress, and a pair of work pants. I am not showing yet, but some of my clothes are starting to get a little uncomfotable around the tummy area. At least now I can be comfortable at work.
